Understanding the basics of technology is fast becoming an essential skill for many types of jobs. Not to mention fast job growth within areas such as computer programming and information systems. How do you know what technology skills your child might need? And how do you introduce them to the world of technology, especially if you don’t have those skills yourself?
Well, that’s where MYTEK LAB comes in, we were excited to try out their courses, as they delve deeper into the world of technology and programming than many of the resources we have tried over the years. And our experience with MYTEK LAB did not dissapoint.
I was compensated for my time in writing this honest review, and recieved free access to the class.

Content of MYTEK LAB Classes
This review is for level 2, which is aimed for high school students or middle school students who have completed level 1 or have previous technology experience or instruction. At this level, students get into real coding in HTML and Java Script (as opposed to drag and drop coding used for younger kids). They also learn some basics in 3D Modeling.
The course covers the following areas:
- Web Design
- JavaScript Programming
- VR Development
- 3D Modeling for 3D Printing
- 2D Game art
- 3D Game Development
- Linux Introduction
- Database and SQL fundamentals
Format of MYTEK LAB Online Technology Classes
- weekly
- online class
- recordings available
- live help sessions
- email/or discord support
Mr. Stephen is always very fast to respond to student questions. My daughter needed help several times and was able to quickly get the help she needed by email. When she is stuck, and sends in a question, the answer is always very thorough, helps her get, unstuck, and helps her understand what she did wrong so she doesn’t keep making the same mistakes over and over again.
Real Programming Included
A common problem with coding classes is a lack of programming. Believe it or not, many courses spend a lot of time on theory, and some even write the code for the students. So they are hearing theory and then copy/pasting. I’m sure you understand why this is a terrible method to teach coding. They need to be introduced to the theory and thrown into writing their own code using that theory in order for learning to stick.
MYTEK LAB knows how to teach, so kids will remember what they learn and inspires an interest in technology. They set the course up to get kids into the world of writing their own code right away and helping them troubleshoot that code when it doesn’t work. This is what real programmers do every day.
Online Technology Classes can be Self-Paced
My daughter has mostly done the recorded sessions and gotten support through email when she needs it. The time of the class is difficult for us, and she started the course later in the school year, but is working through it in order, so is behind the other students. I share this because it has worked out perfectly well and I want to encourage anyone that has scheduling conflicts that you can still use this course effectively even if you can’t make it to the live sessions.
Real-World Immersion Style Teaching
During the live course we were able to attend, I noticed the teacher has a style of pushing the kids to think, play around, and troubleshoot the software they are working in. This course encourages kids to use their own brains while exploring the world of technology with a helpful coach by their side to get through the rough spots.
